Acoustic Compression Therapy (ACT)
What Is Acoustic Compression Therapy?
Acoustic Compression Therapy (ACT) is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that accelerates healing and provides lasting relief for musculoskeletal conditions. Using the PiezoWave2T, ACT delivers precisely focused acoustic/sound waves to penetrate deep into muscles, tendons, and ligaments, promoting circulation, reducing inflammation, and breaking down scar tissue. ACT is similar to Therapeutic Ultrasound, but a higher intensity, deeper penetrating version with more significant and lasting results.
How It Works
ACT harnesses targeted acoustic waves to:
-
Break down adhesions & scar tissue, restoring mobility and flexibility
-
Increase blood flow & oxygenation, accelerating the body’s natural healing process
-
Reduce inflammation & pain, improving comfort and function
-
Stimulate stem cell activation & tissue regeneration, encouraging long-term recovery
-
Promote collagen production, strengthening and repairing damaged tissue
-
Growth of new smaller blood vessels in the area to aid in nutrient transport and waste product removal, improving tissue function.
Conditions Treated
ACT is effective for both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, including but not limited to:
-
Tendonitis (shoulder, knee, Achilles, etc.)
-
Plantar fasciitis (heel & foot pain)
-
Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow
-
Sprains & Strains
-
Arthritis & Joint Pain
-
Scar Tissue & Adhesions
-
Frozen Shoulder & Hip
Benefits of ACT
While Chiropractic care is already a powerful tool for restoring mobility and reducing pain, Acoustic Compression Therapy will take healing a step further for soft tissue conditions.
-
Non-Invasive Treatment: ACT provides pain relief without the need for surgery or medication.
-
Promotion of Stem Cell Proliferation and Differentiation: Studies have demonstrated that acoustic vibrations can direct stem cell behaviors, including maintaining pluripotency and guiding differentiation.
-
Precision Targeting: The PiezoWave2T's focused acoustic waves allow for accurate targeting of affected tissues, ensuring effective treatment.
-
Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of conditions, from tendonitis to scar tissue, offering comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
-
Enhanced Patient Comfort: Designed for minimal discomfort during treatment, ensuring a positive patient experience.
What to Expect With Treatment:
-
Assessment & Targeting: The practitioner identifies the area of pain or dysfunction using palpation and patient feedback.
-
Gel Application: A special ultrasound gel is applied to the treatment area to enhance sound wave transmission.
-
PiezoWave2T Device Activation: The device emits controlled acoustic waves through a treatment applicator, which is moved over the affected area. There will be a clicking or popping noise created by the machine during treatment.
-
Penetration & Stimulation: The waves penetrate deep into tissues, breaking up adhesions, stimulating circulation, and promoting cellular repair.
-
Treatment Duration: Sessions typically last 10-15 minutes, and most patients experience gradual pain relief over a few treatments.
-
Post Treatment: We recommend patients avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications and icing. This will not cause any adverse effects if done, but ACT produces a local, short-term inflammatory response to stimulate the immune system’s natural healing process. To get the best results, it’s suggested that patients temporarily forgo icing and OTC anti-inflammatories 24 hours before and after treatment.
